It’s being reported that the original 2009 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox 360 will soon be available on Xbox Game Pass. This wouldn’t be the 2022 version of Modern Warfare 2, but the iconic game from 2009, which is expected to be added to the service sometime between March and April. However, it's still unclear whether this will include the full 2009 game with multiplayer or just the 2020 remastered campaign, which was released for PS4 and Xbox One. The remastered version lacks multiplayer and Spec Ops modes but features updated models and remade cutscenes.
Currently, the only Call of Duty titles available on Game Pass are Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare 3 (2023). If the original Modern Warfare 2 is indeed added, it would be the first Xbox 360-era Call of Duty title to make its way onto the service. This could also pave the way for more Call of Duty games to be included in the future.
Interestingly, fans created a mod to bring Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode to the remastered version, but Activision shut it down just hours before its planned launch, citing concerns that it would hurt the sales of Black Ops 6.
Additionally, it’s reported that 2008's Call of Duty: World at War and Raven Software’s Singularity could be joining Game Pass in May.
